..TRAIL CONDITIONS

The trail is back in good condition after a couple of washouts on the lower end were repaired recently. There may be a few wet spots, but overall, things are great and the weather is cool. Lots of wildlife has been spotted this summer, including bears, bobcats and deer. Riding times will vary according to skill level and sightseeing, fishing and swimming times, but an average time for a good ride on the trail would be 6 hours for half the trail, not counting lunch break.

The trail is paved from about 1 mile north of Marlinton and almost to Buckeye going South, about 5 miles total. This makes good access for wheeelchairs and a break for bicyclists.

Restrooms and potable water, area available and increase the comfort level of riders considerably. A new restroom has been added at Renick and is privately maintained. It’s near the red-roofed picnic shelter just before the bridge, coming south. Parking facilities have been added to the refurbished depot in Clover Lick, but it is not yet open for visitors. There is now parking at Beard, and the new parking area at Cass has been enlarged. The main parking lot for the southern terminus of the trail is three miles up Stonehouse Road or riders may use the paved public parking lot by the boat launch at Caldwell and ride Stonehouse Road to the start of the trail.
