Key Notes:
-
The Greenbrier River Trail is undergoing a significant bridge redecking project over the next two years(The contractor has until November 2027 to complete). The project was started in February 2026, at MM 5.55 of the Trail, and the contractor is working NORTH towards Cass. As work progresses, certain sections of the Trail will be inaccessible to users. Up-to-date information will be posted here as the project advances. We ask for your patience and understanding as we complete this important infrastructure improvement. The redecking project will enhance the safety and longevity of the Trail for all users. As soon as we have more information, we will post it here.
-
There will be NO RECOMMENDED DETOURS since the trail is so isolated and any possible detours would be narrow, windy and steep mountian roads that are not ment for trail users. We understand the frustration, but our goal is to inform the public, keep everyone as safe as possible and preserve this trail for generations to come.
-
Since there are SO MANY hands are in this project(Federal, State, Local Governing bodies, not to mention a contractor) there is no true way to tell anyone how long anything is going to be closed for or when the next section is going to close. We are working hard to tell you everything we know on this page.
